They try to bait you – Men are really bratty boys deep inside and this nature in them gets quite antagonistic when they encounter a woman they feel inferior to, intelligence wise. So what do boys do to a "smarty pants" girl? They try to bait her and show her down. Men are not mean, it’s just that their ego gets a little hurt when it gets intimidated by a smart woman and so it tries to seek a childish revenge. For instance, if the man is your manager and he finds out that you are more intelligent than him he will assign you some "tough" projects and try to put you down for "unreasonable" reasons. If he is your colleague, he will try to out do you or belittle you if he finds an excuse. They avoid flirting with you – You will not find guys flirting with women who they think are "superior" to them. They will never acknowledge that the woman is superior but they just hold this feeling deep down. So certain men would intentionally flirt with your friends in front you while avoiding you completely. Remember that not all men will behave this way, but majority of them will especially the ones with inflated egos. The worst is when you go to an office party and you are the only one who does not have a guy by your elbow. They don’t acknowledge your beauty – If you are a smart woman who is also "beautiful", according to the society standards, you will come across as more of threat to certain men who have a sense of insecurity within them. Some men often feel gnawing anger when then find a woman who is extremely confident and talks "professional" while being beautiful at the same time. A "smart" woman’s beauty becomes like sour grapes for some men. They find this woman beautiful but they also find her irritating because she is so "business like" and smart. So there is push pull effect with the push effect working stronger. Men are attracted to beautiful woman irrespective of what kinda person she is, but if she is "smarter" than them, and shows it, then their egos will create a blind screen and so they don’t relate to your beauty anymore and just see you as a threatening "woman". They downright "hate" you – Well some men will just hate you like plague and feel a burning irritation whenever you are in their vicinity. A smart woman feels like a thorn to "chauvinistic" men. Their entire sense of “a man is smarter than a woman” feels shaken up when they are in the company of a woman who’s more “professional” and smarter than them. Some men take it to a different level and start being a nuisance. They indulge in sexist remarks, they try to downplay you with words rather than actions and might even try to harass you verbally, or in worst cases physically. In conclusion, a smart woman has it a little tough in her occupation, and possibly personal life also. Men have egos and they will feel threatened by any woman who seems to enter their domain. Not all men will react to you negatively though and many would actually find you very attractive. There is no reason for a woman to feel disturbed by negative reactions that certain men would show towards her, she should continue being the person she is and just "be herself". Love, compassion, understanding and care will come their way too because not all men are alike.
